Heavy Vehicle Safety Around Ports - Flu Vaccinations

Vaccination against the flu is well recognised as one of the single most effective ways of reducing absenteeism over the winter months. When a staff member gets the flu, they may be absent for four to six days. In fact, research shows that healthy employees vaccinated against the flu take 43% less sick days for upper respiratory illnesses compared with unvaccinated staff.

As part of the Heavy Vehicle Safety Around Ports project targeted at heavy vehicle operators, we are offering businesses within the Port of Brisbane precinct the opportunity to receive free flu vaccinations for up to 20 employees.

Register for a nurse to come to your designated address within the Port precinct and deliver 20 vaccinations. It is anticipated vaccinations will be administered the week of 10th-14th June, dates and times to be confirmed.

You will need to be able to provide:

  • a private room or area for vaccinations to be administered.
  • sufficient space nearby for employees to wait for the required 15 minutes after their vaccination is received.
