Roads Australia Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) Visa Workshop (Brisbane)

Australia is in the midst of the largest construction boom in its history. And while our contracting and consulting industries are focused on supporting and growing local skills and capacity, there remains an urgent need to supplement our workforce with skills from overseas.

In 2018, the Australian Government abolished the old 457 visa and replaced it with the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa. However, a lack of industry knowledge about the change - coupled with the ineligibility of a number of industry-critical skills sets – has resulted in fewer applications and/or delays across the transport and infrastructure sectors.

Roads Australia’s Capacity Stream is running a national series of workshops to show how to make the most of the TSS visa system, and to look at what we can do collectively to ensure the skills we need are included on the skilled occupations list.

          CDAA 2019 National Conference

2019 Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA) National Conference

The theme for this year's conference is Inspiring Excellence in Career Development: Integration. A new paradigm is emerging around us – the fields of education, training and work are increasingly integrated and there is a shift across all sectors; away from viewing career development as a stand-alone specialisation, towards it being merged with other activities and delivered collaboratively with other professionals. And the shift from personal to digital interaction continues at pace. How to best navigate this integration and grasp the opportunities to remain relevant?

The outstanding line up of 4 International and 24 Australian presenters from all sectors of the profession will explore the current challenges and opportunities presented by an integrated approach to Career Development. As experienced and respected practitioners and researchers, they will provide solutions and tools for you to implement in your workplace.

The conference will be held on 19-21 September 2019 at the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra.
