Australian Road Transport Industrial Organisation (ARTIO) - Queensland Branch
(Representing the Transport & Logistics Industry)
The Australian Road Transport Industrial Organisation (ARTIO) is an Industrial Organisation of Employers registered under the Fair Work (Registrered Organisation) Act 2009. ARTIO represents employers and prime contractors in the transport and logistics industry, particularly those engaged in road transport. ARTIO has been registered under the applicable legislation since 1984.
ARTIO operates as a federation with Branches in all States except for South Australia. ARTIO and its Branches including the Queensland Branch (Maroussia Ltd) operate independently and in accordance with the particular Constitution applying in that Branch. Each Branch participated directly in the relevant State Industrial system prior to the creation of a more uniform National Relations Framework, as enhanced by the Fair Work Act 2009.
ARTIO's Council, which has representatives from each State, meets on a bi-monthly basis to consider and discuss IR issues impacting on the Organisation (industry) and its members. Much of the day-to-day activities are carried out by the Branches (in Queensland's case it is the Maroussia Association Ltd), especially when dealing with operational issues and provisions of advice to members on issues surrounding industrial obligations and other regulatory matters.
In fact, the ARTIO Branch works in such close conjuntion with the particular State Road Transport or Trucking Association that transport operators receive a seamless commercial and industrial service without fully understanding the different legal structures in place. Both the Maroussia Association and the Victorian Transport Association recently celebrated their centenary years.
When ARTIO's membership is combined with that of the State Associations there is immediate access of over 1500 transport operators.
